CHANGING BOOK SELECTION

If your child does not like to read, maybe the selection of books dictated by their curriculum could be the problem. This can be the case for literature heavy curriculums that might feel overwhelming to the child.

If reading is becoming a battle, sometimes changing pace and taking a break works wonders! We definitely don’t want students to dislike reading!

A solution that has worked is to stop and turn directions. Try a new strategy: let them read what they like!

Children will devour a book that interests them. Even comics work as a starting point for getting kids to read. As we allow kids to learn to love reading, later we can guide them onto better reading selections.

USE RATE THAT BOOK! TO TEACH THEM ANALYTICAL SKILLS

As part of any reading curriculum, its indispensable to help students develop analytical and reading comprehension skills.

With Rate That Book! you can use any book to teach analytical skills, writing and reading comprehension. The format and the prompts in the lessons work with any book your children might pick.

You can also use it to get kids to write and analyze a book, a movie or a documentary.

Teaching with this complementary reading unit takes only 20 minutes a day or less! Plus, its flexible. You can use it for a chapter or for an entire book.

WHAT IF MY KID DISLIKES WRITING!

One of the reasons, we created Rate That Book! was to get kids to practice writing a little bit each day. Sometimes, kids can be voracious readers but dislike writing.

RATE MY BOOK! can help with getting students engaged in writing. Why? Because is very short and quick chunks of writing at a time plus students will be writing about something they are interested in !
