CHANGING BOOK SELECTION
If your child does not like to read, maybe the selection of books dictated by their curriculum could be the problem. This can be the case for literature heavy curriculums that might feel overwhelming to the child.
If reading is becoming a battle, sometimes changing pace and taking a break works wonders! We definitely don’t want students to dislike reading!
A solution that has worked is to stop and turn directions. Try a new strategy: let them read what they like!
Children will devour a book that interests them. Even comics work as a starting point for getting kids to read. As we allow kids to learn to love reading, later we can guide them onto better reading selections.
